People attending the 2016 State Fair of West Virginia will once again have the chance to bid on a variety of collectibles, knives, jewelry, coins, and more. The West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office Unclaimed Property Division is conducting six live auctions in the West Virginia Building at the fairgrounds in Fairlea.

The auctions start promptly at 5 p.m. each of the following days: Friday, August 12; Saturday, August 13; Tuesday, August 16; Thursday, August 18; Friday, August 19; Saturday, August 20. The fair runs Aug. 12-21.

“We held live auctions last year, with great success, and are looking forward to doing it again,” said State Treasurer John Perdue. “We want to show people a sample of what we are holding in unclaimed property to create more interest in checking our database and bidding on items in our online auctions.”

In addition to the live fair auctions, there are also online auctions available at www.wvtreasury.com. Items to be auctioned include safe deposit box contents and items seized in law enforcement raids.
