Bank at School - Lesson 11 Previous Lesson Next Lesson Review and Role Play
Introduction The previous lesson discussed the range of products and services available at financial institutions. Lesson 11 consists of a review of lessons 6 -10 and provides an opportunity to put all the principles discussed throughout the program into use.
Objective To refresh students' memories on the topics discussed.
To put into use the principles learned through an in-class exercise.
Suggested Activity Create an in-class financial institution. Divide your class into tellers and customers. Practice making deposits and withdrawals at the financial institution. Remember you will have to go to the financial institution in person this summer if you want to deposit or withdraw from your account. So it's a good idea to practice ahead of time.
Make up deposit and withdrawal slips. Use play money for the tellers to distribute to "customers." Practice being a teller and a customer. Remember, tellers have to make sure each "customer's" account information is correct (i.e., name is on slip with amount requested written out as well as a play account number). Have the tellers issue each customer a receipt with the appropriate information on it.
Homework Assignment Write a one-page essay on why saving is important to you. Essays should be handed in at the next lesson.
Ask your parents to accompany you to the financial institution to make a deposit or withdrawal so you can see what it's like to go to the financial institution on your own.
