Rhododendron - State Flower

The rhododendron or "big laurel" was made the official state flower on January 29, 1903. Rhododendrons are evergreen members of the azalea family and they are very abundant. The plant can reach a height of 25 to 30 feet. Depending on the species and the elevation, they generally bloom from May into July.
