Women & Money conference set for Huntington
CHARLESTON – State Treasurer John Perdue announced Monday the first of five “Women & Money” conferences his office will host in 2004.
The popular conference series, aimed at educating women on a wide variety of financial topics, kicks off March 19 this year at the Marshall University Student Center.
Future times and dates also include May 7 at the Ramada Inn, Morgantown; June 18 at Oglebay Park, Wheeling; Sept. 10 at Tamarack Conference Center, Beckley; and Oct. 29 at Holiday Inn in Parkersburg.
Massachusetts-based financial expert Dee Lee will again serve as the key speaker at all five conferences in 2004, as she has during the first three. Lee travels the country speaking on financial topics and has received national media exposure for her expertise.
Treasurer Perdue’s office has hosted three previous events, one in 2002 and two in 2003, attracting nearly 4,000 women. The Charleston Civic Center served as site of the first two conferences, before the treasurer took the show on the road last October to Shepherdstown in the Eastern Panhandle.
About 300 women attended that conference. All three have received positive reviews. The conferences have been, and will be, free of charge. Private sponsorships fund the cost of putting on the conferences, which include speaker fees and material expenses.
“We are very excited about extending the series,” said Treasurer Perdue, “and continuing to extend its borders beyond Charleston. From all indications, women who have attended the events have truly benefited from the expert advice given. This is another symbol of our financial education mission.”
