Retirement Plus hosts fall retirement seminars

CHARLESTON – West Virginia’s 457 supplemental retirement plan has hosted three informational seminars this fall, attracting some 270 attendees.

Events in Morgantown, Charleston and Logan have been aimed at highlighting the benefits of West Virginia Retirement Plus. Those advantages include revamped investment options, matching funds and tax advantages.

“I sincerely hope that the folks who heard the presentation are motivated to invest in our plan,” State Treasurer John Perdue said. “We do believe that we offer a quality, low maintenance investment option that works.”

Speakers have included Dee Lee, a nationally known financial educator; Robert Jefferies of the Social Security Administration; and Steve Kerns, an ING financial advisor.

West Virginia Retirement Plus is the 457 savings vehicle for West Virginia public employees. It allows an employee to make periodic contributions to a 457 tax-deferred account, with anticipated investment earnings over time.
