Women & Money Conference a hit in Wheeling

State Treasurer John Perdue brought his popular Women & Money conference series to Wheeling’s Oglebay Park Sept. 18, met by a receptive crowd of about 225.

“The folks here at Wheeling always enjoy Women & Money conferences,” Treasurer Perdue said. “We were here in 2004 and 2005, also to an excellent reception.”

Once again, as she has done at all previous Women & Money events, featured speaker Dee Lee enthralled the crowd with instruction on credit cards, retirement savings, investing and other topics.

“Gaining control of your finances is a gift you give yourself,” Lee said. “You’ll never be sorry.”

Lee spoke at her 24th Women & Money event. The Boston-based Lee is a veteran financial educator, a former financial planner and a mainstay on both Boston and national media.

The event was free, including a continental breakfast and lunch. Door prizes were distributed at the end of the seminar.

The series started with two large gatherings in Charleston, in 2002 and 2003. Since then, conferences have been held from Huntington to Shepherdstown and Princeton to Wheeling.
